silverstripe
WARRIOR OF RIVERCLAN
Day after day after day, Silverstripe finds himself waking up to the same blindingly bright morning sunlight. It always seems funny to him that felines call that morning light "bright" when in reality, it's no brighter than the light of the dying sun. At least, he saw them to be about the same. This is the way he thinks about it: felines are basically dead when they are asleep. Sure, they dream and a part of their mind appears to be alive and there are times when the sleeping bodies even twitch or talk. However, the body isn't getting nourishment or real movements. There are a good number of felines that just lay there as still and lost to the world as a brick. There have been multiple times a that he's tried to wake-up his brother, Rockclaw, to get him to go out hunting with him. Yup, that's right. Silverstripe is that kind of feline - the really annoying one that always seems to have energy, even immediately waking up in the morning. But that's beside the point. The point is, because felines are dead in the night, they wake up from that unending darkness to the bright light of the waking day's beam of light. Compared to that darkness, heck yes it's bright. But, after they get used to it, it just keeps getting brighter. That's why when the sun starts to die, felines don't notice it as bright, but rather note it as a fading light - they're already used to a bright source of light.
So, that's why when that "bright light" lit up the back of Silverstripe's eyelids, giving him a signal that the morning was here, he opened his eyes in a jolt. As his nose was hit wit the strong scent of ThunderClan, the tom smiled to himself. However, as he looked around and noticed that the area was clear of ThunderClan felines, he rubbed his paws against the nice and warm stone that existed at Sunningrocks, and laid his head back down on his paws, "Mommy, give me like five more minutes to sleep," he mewed humorously and closed his eyes again, thinking about the fish that were swimming in the river not too far from where he lay. Of course he should be worried about the fact that he was trespassing on an enemy Clan's territory, but the fact of the matter was, he really wasn't scared. He could run into a big bad angry ThunderClan warrior, or he could run into a scared little apprentice that came out here to explore. As far as he was concerned, he was enjoying himself right now and wanted to keep enjoying himself.
Of course he hadn't meant to sleep there all night. That'd just be dumb. He had just wanted be stupid. But, the way he figured, he had already been out here and got his Clan's scent on the stone, might as well stay here a little longer, soak in the growing light's warmth, and dig himself a little grave. And although he would never admit this to himself, out here he could imagine that he was on his way to see Darling again, but in the RiverClan camp he had to remember that what he thought he had with her was nothing. Back in the camp, seeing all the happy couples, made him sick to his stomach with heartache. He tried to hide it, but it was hard at times and right now, he just wanted to soothe out that heartache and forget about it while he could.
